5 Best Free Blogging Platforms to Earn Cryptocurrency!

Sure, you can create blogs in free blogging sites like Tumblr and Wix. But did you know that there are free blogging platforms where you can earn cryptocurrencies?

In this article, I’m going to share five of the best crypto blogging platforms today.

But before that, why do you really want to create a website? Particularly a blog? And what benefits do crypto blogging platforms bring to you?

What are the benefits of having a website?

There are many reasons why you would want to put up a website. It can be one of the following:

  • Advertise your business
  • Express yourself
  • Build an online portfolio (for online freelancers)
  • Make an online journal

Yet one of the heaviest reasons is to put up those thoughts through words. I know a few friends who just blog for fun. They just want to let their creative juices flow in their blogs without expecting anything monetary.

There are also some who tried their luck in free blogging platforms which lets them earn from ads. A few of these sites are Blogger and WordPress.org.

Now, how about blogging, and at the same time, engaging with a community while earning cryptocurrencies? Does that ring a bell to you?

Right, I almost forgot. If it’s your first time hearing about cryptocurrency, it is a digital money that can be converted to real cash. You can also read my previous blog about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency to know more about these newborn currencies.

How does a cryptocurrency blogging platform work?

To give you a little overview, these free blogging platforms are not limited to posting crypto topics alone. You can post about anything. Yep, it can be anything under the sun.

In fact, in my crypto blog in Steemit.com, my posts circulate more on finance, arts, and personal life. I even posted my forex trading journal there.

Again, you can post about anything! Want to tell a story about your pet? Pet lovers will surely love that. Want to share how you aced that level 250 in Candy Crush? Go on! No one’s stopping you.

You can actually think of it as a social media platform. You can treat it as your facebook, twitter, instagram, or reddit. Once you publish a post, your post’s upvote (or post’s likes) could gain rewards in the form of a cryptocurrency.

The good thing about this is the high potential of earning aside from publishing posts. You can also get rewarded when you comment on a post or even when liking posts!

Amazing, isn’t it?

So here are five of those free blogging platforms.

I’ll be focusing more on the first crypto blogging platform though, which is Steemit, since I have a first-hand experience with this one. But basically, the other platforms work more or less the same way, so I will just be giving a little overview on the other platforms.

5 Best Free Blogging Platforms where you can earn cryptocurrencies

1. Steemit

Steemit is the first crypto-based blogging platform ever created. If you happen to read my previous posts, I mentioned Steemit A LOT. That’s because I started my blogging journey in Steemit before putting up this personal website.

How to make money using Steemit?

Steemit rewards its users in cryptocurrencies, particularly Steem and Steem dollars.

You can also be rewarded with a Steem power. Steem power is like your influence. The more Steem Power you have, the bigger value you can give to others once you upvote their posts. You can also self upvote your posts by the way.

Your earnings will depend on the upvotes you get from your post. But this is not a game of getting more upvotes by the way. It also depends on who upvoted you.

Otherwise, you can just create fake accounts and upvote your real account. But the bottom line is, the bigger the steem power of your upvoters, the bigger your rewards will be.

How much can you make on Steemit?

Honestly, it is very common to earn nothing from your posts. Nothing. Zero. Truth is, you can’t just post there and wait for your post to earn more. Again, just like your usual social media sites like facebook and twitter, you have to earn some sort of “influence” by doing the following:

  1. Post original and interesting contents
  2. Engage with other users
  3. Engage with different communities where you share the same interest

In my case, I also had a huge number of posts that literally had ZERO earnings. Yet the biggest earning I had in a single post was around $380+. It was a post about my artwork. But instead of writing the description of steps, I made a story out of that artwork. Here it is:

If you visit my Steemit account and pay more attention, you’ll see the earnings on every post like this one:

If you noticed, there’s $64.52 there. But this was the exact post where I earned 380+ USD.

WHUUUUT? So how did that happen???

Actually, that $64.52 is not in USD. That dollar sign means Steem Dollars. And that time, one Steem Dollar’s value was 8+ USD (Currently, it’s around $1).

So if you multiply that to $64.52, my total earnings should be around 516 USD, right?

YES! But 25% of my total earnings were shared with the users who upvoted my post. It was proportionally divided. Basically, the users with more Steem Power earned more than the ones with lesser steem power. So all in all, my net earnings for that post was 380+ USD, which is 75% of 516 USD.

Basically, your earnings in Steemit greatly depends on two huge factors:

  1. Your post’s upvotes (and who upvoted it)
  2. The value of Steem and Steem dollars in USD

But of course, there are also downsides in Steemit as follows:

  1. Your earning potential is limited. After publishing your content, you will be given 7 days to accumulate rewards. After that, you will never earn from that post again even if you receive another set of votes for that particular post.

  2. You cannot delete your content. Once published, you can never delete your content. You can, however, edit your content within seven days after it is published. After seven days, it will be locked and stay on your blog. Forever.

Here’s my account in Steemit by the way:

Right now, I do not highly encourage creating an account in Steemit.com. Instead, create an account in Hive.blog

I’ll explain the reason in the next section.

2. Hive.blog

Ned Scott, the former owner of the Steemit platform, sold Steemit to Justin Sun of TRON. Justin Sun’s administration, however, resulted in huge chaos in the Steemit community.

Basically, Justin made huge changes which the Steemit community did not like. As a result, former Steem developers and supporters have agreed to develop Hive.blog

How to make money in Hive.blog?

Hive works almost the same as Steemit. But instead of Steem, Steem Dollars, and Steem Power, you’ll earn Hive, Hive Dollars, and Hive Power in hive.blog

I haven’t really explored much about hive.blog since its inception but I noticed how it strives to focus more on the community itself rather than gaming the system, which is noticeable in Steemit before.

3. Uptrennd

Uptrennd is a Reddit-like type of platform that lets you earn the Uptrennd (1UP) cryptocurrency. When I created an account there months ago, I was really surprised how engaging the users are.

In fact, some people believe it will overtake Reddit for its strong user base. Unless, of course, if Reddit will also reward its users for their engagement

Of course, you can also write blogs and even post pictures, videos, music, and news in Uptrennd. Again, you can treat it as your social media platform.

How to earn on Uptrennd?

You’ll earn for:

  • Creating and sharing contents
  • Commenting
  • Engaging with sponsored contents

Unlike Steemit and Hive, Uptrennd allows its users to post Non-Original Contents, which is highly discouraged in the first two blogging platforms I mentioned. It can be a media news link or a helpful blog content you would love to share. The downside though is non-original content will be given less exposure than the original ones.

3. Publish0x

Publish0x works similar to Medium, a blogging platform where both the authors and the readers earn. But instead claps, you’ll get rewarded with tips!

Currently, the tips in Publish0x are a variety of cryptocurrencies like Basic Attention Token (BAT), DAI StableCoin, and Hydro

How to earn crypto on Publish0x?

You can earn in Publish0x in two ways:

1. By reading articles and tipping authors.

In every post, there’s a slider tipper on the bottom part of the article. With this slider, you can choose how much you would want to allocate to the author and how much you would want to keep

Tips are free and are taken from Publish0x’s rewards pool. So basically, when you give some tips to an author, you can also tip yourself for reading an article.

2. By publishing content and receiving tips from other users.

Unlike the other crypto blogging platforms in this list, signing up for Publish0x does not automatically make you eligible for publishing any content, unless you apply as an author.

Anyone, however, can register, read, and give tips to the authors. But in order for you to become a publisher in Publish0x, you need to apply as an author or get a direct invite from the Publish0x team.

5. Read.cash

Read.cash is another promising platform where you can earn Bitcoin Cash. I haven’t explored it yet but by the looks of it, it somehow works like Reddit or Quora. There are forums and communities you can join based on your topics of interest. You can also build a community of your own if you like to.

Just like any other crypto blogging platforms I presented lately, you can create an account in Read.cash for free. However, you need to have a cryptocurrency wallet that supports Bitcoin Cash to grab your rewards.

Why consider writing on these free blogging platforms?

If you enjoyed sharing your thoughts on free blogging platforms without expecting anything in return, you should really consider giving crypto blogging platforms a try. More than the monetization, they can also help you find an online community. In fact, I gained friends for life in Steemit.

But no, you don’t have to be a writer to start writing on these platforms. As long as you have something to share, then you’re good to go. You can even treat it as your usual facebook, twitter, or reddit.

But I have to warn you. If you just want to hop in because of the earning potential, then I’m afraid you’ll just hop off the boat sooner or later. In these blogging platforms, there are actually two kings: Content and Engagement

You can’t just publish interesting content and wait for people to discover it. Well, you can try your luck, but this is not really sustainable in the long run.

You actually have to engage as well! Engagement will really help you stay rather than solely thinking of these platforms as money-making machines. And of course, don’t forget to enjoy your blogging journey!

How about you? Have you tried writing in crypto blogging platforms? How was your experience? I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts in the comment section 🙂
